I don’t always get up at sunrise, but when I do it’s to meet beautiful people, in beautiful places, to take beautiful images.
Chelsea & Shawn were such troopers. They met me at sunrise, 5am, on a Tuesday morning for part one of their engagement session on the beaches of Plum Island. This is one of my absolute favorite places to shoot at this hour. The sun rises perfect over the ocean and the beautiful colors spread as far as the eye can see. It’s unlike anything we get here on the East Coast at sunset. Although it’s a little tough to peel yourself out of your warm bed at 4am, it’s always worth it for these peacefully serene settings all to yourself, as the rest of the world sleeps.
When Chelsea reached out to me I was so excited. A couple that is up for a sunrise session and to top it off they wanted a second session at the McVann-Louis O’Keefe Hockey Rink in Peabody, MA. Shawn is a hockey player and was on the Merrimack College team when they met, they wanted to incorporate the ice somehow. I was more than happy to meet them rink side for round two. I will admit, I hadn’t been on ice since I was about nine year old and being a 31 year old tall girl, with some very expensive photography equipment strapped to me, I was a bit apprehensive. But, I made it you guys, no falls! haha
I love when couples get creative with their engagement locations and add personal touches, like Shawn’s jersey. I can’t wait to see what this sweet couples comes up with for their Save The Date’s and what personal touches they bring to their big dat at the Smith Barn next Spring.
